Kazuki Hyoudou is one of the titular protagonists of The Twin Dragons. He is a second-year student at Kuoh Academy along with his elder twin brother, Issei Hyoudou. Kazuki is also the top member of the Kendo Club known as the White Knight by the female students.
He was a human with prior knowledge of the existence of Devils residing in Kuoh Town and was born with rare talent in magic in spite of being born inside a normal household. On his back, he has the Sacred Gear, Divine Dividing making him the direct rival of his older brother, Issei Hyoudou and Ddraig. Though instead of a fight to the death, both brothers had promised to fight each other to discover which one was stronger.
Kazuki was reincarnated into an Angel by Gabriel, one of the Four Great Seraph and the Strongest Woman in Heaven as her "Joker". He soon became the leader of the special team that he formed over the summer known as the Avalon Team.
Appearance[]
Kazuki is a seventeen-year-old high school student of average height who has short brown unkempt hair with several strands on the front and light brown eyes. It was mentioned throughout childhood that he has weak constitution from birth, but due to his training in martial arts, he attained a honed lean build. In Volume 02, after sacrificing his heart to attain a dragon heart, he gained a stronger constitution. Following his training during the summer break, his build has become more robust but is still lean.
From Volume 2, he has gained a dragon heart, which caused dragon blood to be pumped through his veins, in turn, all of his organs, resulting in various parts of him either attaining dragon traits and/or turning into a dragon, but it would return to normal if Sona or someone else sucks out the dragon power from him.
Kazuki has worn various clothes: his most common being Kuoh Academy's male school uniform, which consists of a black blazer worn over a white long-sleeved dress shirt with black vertical lines, a black ribbon, black pants, and brown dress shoes. Before leaving the Kendo Club, his wore the same uniform worn by the male members; a kendogi, hakama, and obi.
Following his Angelization by Gabriel as her Joker, Kazuki has eight white Angel wings and a halo above his head.
Personality[]
Kazuki is initially shown to be a good-natured and intelligent person as seen in his conversations with both Sona and the Occult Research Club members. He is a strong devout Christian showing great respect to the teachings of God, but despite this, Kazuki has shown no hate or animosity towards Sona or Rias despite them being pure-blooded devils realizing that neither of them had evil intentions in either Kuoh viewing them as just "normal girls" enjoying in their normal high school lives.
Kazuki also has a strong sense of right and wrong, believing that no one has the right to mistreat another person no matter their status or position. It is also due to this belief that has caused him to impede the "activities" of the "Perverted Trio" composed of his brother and his friends who peeped in on multiple girls changing and/or perving on them, which earned him the moniker "White Knight". Despite being initially frailer than most, he can be quiet courageous and brave, as well as a strong unwavering desire to protect those important to him even in the most dangerous situations as he had saved Koneko and Raynare from being attacked. To save his family from being targeted, because of him, he even had his Longinus suppressed rather than accept it.
Despite his intellect and confidence, Kazuki is susceptible to the teasing of women, showing a complete nervous disposition compared to normal at times. This is likely due to both his religious beliefs and strong feeling towards his childhood friend, Irina Shidou, his first love. Though he is aware of the feelings that he has towards other girls and their feelings towards him, albeit through their over-affectionate actions towards him.
Kokabiel's Biggest Mistake Ever
In combat, Kazuki can be described as the perfect of a tactician, being calm and level-headed seeking to find a solution in fighting rather than running in without a plan in mind like Issei who charges in using his emotions. He also believes that anything is possible with planning and developing techniques in order to solve solutions. He is shown this mindset during his fight against the Khaos Brigade alongside his teammates, the Occult Research Club, and the Student Council. Despite their different methods of fighting, both are perfect examples for a "King", as Issei fights using his "Heart", while Kazuki uses his "Mind". Though despite him being level-headed, there are times when he loses himself whenever the lives of his friends are being threatened for whatever reason.
It is later revealed that he has a strong fetish for "Maids", as proven in his initial encounter with both Grayfia and Lucia Lucifuge who teleported into his room instead of Issei's room where Rias was. Kazuki secretly believes that a woman small or big, beautiful or adorable can be further enhanced when dressing as a maid.
As a child, Kazuki was a timid and shy when it came to interacting with other people that he didn't know. He had also carried great admiration for his older brother, due to his straightforward nature a slightly very timid and shy when it had come to interact with other people, as opposed to his older brother who was always straightforward with how he felt about some people. Kazuki also held a great amount of admiration for his older brother due to that personality trait, and due to him always defending him whenever he was picked on by others. After he was given some great advice from his older brother, be begun to become more confident in himself.
History[]
In the past, their parents, Gorou and Miki Hyoudou had trouble conceiving a child, failing twice in the process by miscarriages. The third time, this time twins, their father worried about what might happen next, paced back and forth in front of the Shinto Shrine praying and wishing for their children. After being born, both were excited after their twin boys were born, whom they named Issei and Kazuki respectively.
He is the childhood friend of Irina Shidou, who lived in the same neighborhood and often played and prayed with one another, often spending the night at one another's houses. Kazuki often made it a habit to remind his brother that Irina was a girl, the latter believed she was a boy due to her tomboyish nature and getting into trouble. In his childhood, Kazuki was often bullied due to being timid and frailer than others, then met a woman at the park who consoled him and told him that he could become stronger than anyone before leaving.
At around the same time, Irina had to move to England with her parents due to her father's job, causing a tearful for them; sharing their first kiss at their favorite park, then promised to meet one another again and switched their initialed crosses with one another. It was then that he vowed to rebuild himself promising he'd become a stronger person before meeting her again, then started attending different martial arts clubs, going to the same school as his brother, Matsuda, and Motohama.
Powers and Abilities[]
Overall Abilities: Despite having a weak constitution compared to Issei, Kazuki was blessed with prodigious rare talent for someone born into a normal house with no relation to the supernatural. Like his brother, he is the owner of one of the original 13 Longinus, Divine Dividing, making him the host of the Heavenly Dragon, Albion, granting him the potential to slay Gods. Learning martial arts and magic made it possible for him to fight against a Fallen Angel and rogue Exorcists, more so since he used strategies. Upon training with the Vali Team, Kazuki proved to have grown enough to defeat Riser's Queen, Yubelluna and then soon managed to achieve Balance Breaker, despite being only a month active in the supernatural world, which allowed him to defeat Kokabiel. After the training with Vasco Strada and Tiamat, Kazuki became strong enough to put up a very impressive fight against Bikou without even using Divine Dividing.
Immense Light Power: As a Angel, Kazuki has the ability to use Light Powers to create various effects. Gabriel noted that his prowess has started to become more proficient than most pure angels.
- Light-Based Weapons: As a Reincarnated Angel, Kazuki can create multiple weapons from light with ease such as swords, spears and a bow.
Immense Strength: His natural weak constitution has afforded him limit strength even for a human, although, he was strong enough to send Gadreel to the ground using a blindsided assault. Training with the Vali Team and his attainment of a dragon heart, Kazuki has gained a stronger constitution, letting him defeat Yubelluna.
Immense Speed: Through Divine Dividing, Kazuki is granting high-speed flight capabilities letting him outpace a Fallen Angel such as Gadreel. Though his natural speed has been enhanced due to his training with both Vali and Bikou has made him faster and agile, letting him avoid all Yubelluna's explosions. When Kazuki achieved his Balance Breaker: Scale Mail, he became so fast that Kokabiel couldn't keep up with his speed. After the training, even without using Divine Dividing, Kazuki was able to keep up with Bikou.
Immense Durability: His weak constitution as offered him limit resistance to damage as he had to avoid attacks from Fallen Angels such as Gadreel, coupled with his limited use of Divine Dividing. Due to him gaining a dragon heart, in addition to surviving the brutal training of both Vali and Bikou, has made him durable enough to handle brutal attacks and handle using Divine Dividing.
Immense Stamina: Kazuki has limited endurance and stamina, his training to pace himself from childhood has caused him to leaned how to pace himself without excessive motions. His training with the Vali Team and gaining a much stronger constitution after gaining a dragon heart, his stamina and endurance improved to where he was able to fight for an extended period of time.
Master Martial Artist: He is a skilled martial artist, having trained in the basics of Karate, Judo, and Taekwondo, then Kendo since starting his first-year. In fact, Kazuki defeated multiple former exorcists and Gadreel using both a light sword and gun without letting them near Asia. After his training with the Vali Team, his skills were honed to where he could fight against foes he had difficulties with before. After Kazuki achieved Balance Breaker, he managed to overpower Kokabiel and would have killed him if Vali didn't interfere. After the training, Kazuki put up a impressive fight against Bikou without even using Divine Dividing.
Master Magician: Kazuki is noted to have rare magic talent, capable of learning basic magics in a short span of time without prior instructions. Sona stated that his magic potential either rivals or surpasses a High-Class Devil. After learning more about magic from Le Fay Pendragon and Kuroka, he has become proficient in various forms of magic ranging from elemental and teleportation magic, letting him enhance his combat strength.
- Enhancement Magic: He learned basic enhancement magic, allowing him to enhance his own physical abilities to where he could fight against experienced opponents undeterred; he could even use this magic on a bokuto, letting him block a strike from a light sword.
- Elemental Magic: He can use natural elements to attack, such as using fireballs, ice spears, wind blasts, and water blasts to attack Yubelluna.
- Defensive Magic: He could create defensive barriers strong enough to defend against the all explosions caused by Yubelluna.
Genius Intellect: Earlier on, Kazuki received for being smart for his age, having the highest scores among all his classmates since grade school even from Sona herself. His intellect also extends to the supernatural aiding him several times such as teaching himself magic with Azazel's manual and learning more about Divine Dividing. He has proven a more quick-witted than pure-blooded devils such as Rias and Riser.
- Master Tactician: He is a strategist who earned praise from Sona who he has played several games of chess with on a regular basis, although, he loses, he takes most of her pieces near the endgame. Kazuki has proven himself to be proficient battle tactician as he studied Riser and his entire peerage during their Rating Game with Rias, then he devised strategies to counter them.
- Master Technician: He is a Technique-Type Fighter who polishes and masters all his techniques, magic, and Divine Dividing to utilize them to the upmost limit. Azazel described Kazuki as being one who seeks to use his powers as efficient as possible rather than going with the flow like his older brother, desiring to be far more versatile to adapt and react to most situations.
Flight: Kazuki is able to fly using his Divine Dividing and is able to even reach light-speed. After being reincarnated as an Angel, Kazuki can now fly using his Angel wings.

Kazuki using Divide in Balance Breaker: Scale Mail
Divine Dividing (白龍皇の光翼, Dibain Dibaidingu?): His sacred gear and main weapon of choice. The Divine Dividing in among the thirteen Longinus, which hold the spirit of the Vanishing Dragon, the White Dragon Emperor, Albion, one of the Heavenly Dragons. It takes on the form as light wings that have a number of eight light feathers, which enables flight capabilities able to can reach light-speed. These light wings work opposite to the Boosted Gear, in which it Divide an individual's power by half soon after coming in physical contact with them every ten-seconds, the opponent's drained power is added to himself and when he reaches his maximum limit, the excess power is then released through his wings. Later on, Kazuki gains the ability to Reflect, allowing him to redirect incoming attacks.
- Divine Dividing: Scale Mail (白龍皇の鎧, Dibain Dibaidingu: Sukeiru Meiru?): Divine Dividing's Balance Breaker, which creates a white dragon armor and soon became his main battle form when against powerful opponents. Kazuki achieved this form in his battle against Kokabiel after being informed about the death of God, as well as hearing the Cadre declare war on both Heaven and the Underworld. Aside from his powers, abilities, speed, and defenses being increased, he can use Divide without the ten-second limit. He later became able to use Half-Dimension, letting Kazuki halve the size of objects and living beings without needing physical contact.
- Juggernaut Drive (覇龍, Jagānōto Doraivu?): A form unique to Divine Dividing and Boosted Gear, which temporarily removes the seal placed on the Heavenly Dragons granting him immense power able to rival God and the Four Great Satan. The major drawback of Juggernaut Drive causes its user to lose their sanity while having their lifespan devoured by power. However, he avoids this by instead using his magical power as an alternative source, but he can only manage this for only a couple of minutes.
- Royal Wild Card (白龍皇の三天戴冠, Roiyaru Wairudo Kādo?):
Draconic Equipment: At first, Kazuki collected and then started wielding the light swords belonging to the Stray Exorcists led by Gadreel. Azazel then modified them on request using Grigori's Sacred Gear Research to better suit him and Divine Dividing, producing other attributes, such as fire and wind. Having been stored inside Divine Dividing, all of them became imbued with Albion's power, turning them into dragon weapons. During the summer break, Albion adjusted them based on Kazuki's fighting style and imagination.
- Byakuren (白蓮, White Lotus): Received from the Seraph, Gabriel, a much longer Light Sword created in Heaven for Angels, instead of Exorcists. Having been imbued with Albion's dragon power, then adjusted for Kazuki, it turned into a white katana that has a blue blade kept in a manufactured sheath. As such, it's proven to be among his strongest weapons aside from Divine Dividing, before acquiring Kyouka. He can channel the excess power of Divine Dividing in Byakuren instead, even using Divide with it.
- Tenka and Sekka (天花と雪花, Snow and Snowflake): His first paired Light Swords, adjusted to produce a focused light blade resembling a katana, in addition to producing other attributes. Same as the others, which were soon adjusted too, Tenka and Sekka produces a blue light blade much stronger than before.
- Hyouka and Rokka (氷花と桜花, Ice Flower and Six Flower): His second paired Light Swords, adjusted to produce a focused single-edged light blade, in addition to producing other attributes. Same as others, which were adjusted too, Hyouka and Rokka produces a blue light blade much stronger than before.
- Centurion and Imperator: Paired Light Guns, modified to fire off different attributes, aside from the usual light bullets. Having been imbued with Albion's power, then adjusted, both became much more offensive firearms instilled with the power of a Dragons, firing off dragon bullets.
